Default Garage Door Opener In Car Won't Take Programing

Garage Door Opener in car wont take a programing and I have tried everything. Clearing the memory, moving hand remote around, re-reading owners manual instructions. The car will not take the programing yet appears to work by the lights flashing slowly then rapidly like the book says yet GDO still does not work in the car. I am even close to the garage door. What am I doing wrong?

Either your Garage door receiver is too new OR your GDO transmitter in your car is too old????

Old receivers with old cars work fine.
Old receivers with newer cars work fine.
New receivers with newer cars work fine.
New receivers with OLD cars DON'T WORK!!!!!!!!!

Jaguar offered a 'rolling-code' transmitter as an upgrade.

All this info is in the TSB section (that nobody reads!).

I read the whole bulletin and I am pretty sure there is a problem somewhere. The garage door opener is maybe 3 or 4 years old and is a Sears if that helps. My GDO in the car flashes a red color not yellow like the instructions say. Does nayone know what this may mean?

It means you have an OLD NON rolling code transmitter. There is NO WAY to make the new receiver 'listen' to your old transmitter.

The 'newer' GDO unit has an AMBER light that flashes.

I don't think the updated GDO units are still available for the X300 but I have not checked in several years.

The part number is in the TSB so you might ask a dealer or just use the GDO remote provided with the Sears unit.

Default Modification of X308 GDO to X300 cars

There are a number of threads active related to the inability of older X300 GDO senders(red flash) to work with the rolling code receivers. Later X300 GDO modules and X308 modules (flash amber) are compatible with rolling code devices. The modules can be exchanged, but there is a minor wiring difference that renders the interior light inoperative. I did a hack a while back to modify the later modules to work on earlier X300 cars. it works well and is pretty easy. I've attached the instructions.
