Gearshift interlock query.

Gearshift interlock query.
So, i noticed my gear shift interlock was not working. It was always free to shift gears.
so i went and had a look.
i can see that the brake switch is activating the solenoid.
but it is not moving enough to lock the lever in place.
now i can see this wire placed here, that is restricting the movement of the solenoid.
if i move it i can lock or unlock the solenoid and i end up with either free play of the stick or the stick always locked.
Should this be here?
if i remove this it should function as normal?
anything else i am missing?

As long as you move the wire out of the way and secure it with a tie wrap maybe and not cut it
While you have the area open notice the location of the 2 blue relays and the not in park switch on the right side of the shift gates
You will notice the long black rectangle box as the linier switch that can get contaminated but can be taken apart and cleaned
The rear view mirror above it has a fluid in it called dragons blood that can drip down into the area
The Mirror has been upgraded to another unit to not do this and can be converted over
There are 2 styles of front windshield glass bonded mounts but leave what you have for a glass bonded mount for now
