Another very good possibility, aholbro1! Also, a tire with a separating steel belt or other internal damage can look good but cause vibration.

Interesting thought, Don! That may well explain what I call a "stumble" observed a couple of times this week; Cruise-control, setpoint 70 mph, there would be a noticeable on any downslopes or anytime the control decided the throttle need be retarded a bit. Switched to manual and repeated the behavior, stumble anytime I eased off the throttle. Then the problem vanished. Could be due for a throttle body cleaning, though, as I believe I completed the last one around 85k mi, now sitting at 147k.
