Help with code P0300
My car has been running quite well over the passed few months and was when I arrived home last night, however, when I got up this morning and jumped in the car to go for my morning coffee at Tim's I got part way there when the Engine started to misfire, so I turned around and by the time I got back home the check engine light was on. The code I'm getting is P0300 random engine misfire. I pulled a couple of plugs they where covered with soot which I expected, I then tested all the coils for resistance and they are the same as they have been over the last two years. I then checked the Fuel pump fuse and it seems fine. The car idle fine it's when I get around 1500 rpm's that it starts to hunt. I'm thinking water in the fuel but have not added any for a few weeks. Any ideas what to check next..
Thanks

If you're forced to park outside then it definitely could be water in the fuel as you suggested.
I only say this because from reading these forums, it appears as though the drain hole/line
under the fuel lid getting clogged is a common problem with our model, and since the water has
nowhere to escape it just fills up the cavity.
With the torrential downpour we just experienced, I'd say it's a possibility.

Glad you got it figured out. Sounds like it wasn't enough to call for a fuel tank draining so that's good.
After reading through some of the more expensive problems other members have encountered, such as lower 'Octopus' coolant hose, coil packs, etc., it almost scares me to drive mine LOL.
We'll have to get together for a coffee in the Falls one day before we retire our Jags for the Winter, I always enjoy the coffee shop at the corner of Jepson and Victoria, next to the 7-11 while visiting NF.

Check the bottom of the drain tube (item 6) from the filler bowl where it emerges under the vehicle next to the diff:
The top of the tube in the filler bowl is usually clear but the bottom often blocks with dirt/mud. A thin wire will clean it.
When the tube is clear you should be able to run a hosepipe into the bowl and it will drain OK.

Thanks Graham I used my air compressor to clear the drain then put a bottle of de-icer in the tank left it sitting overnight and it worked great.
Seems silly to have placed the petrol filler on the top instead of the side which asking for the problem with rain water to happen. Especially when the car was built back home in the UK where it rains most days...lol
