I bought a rear sway bar and bracket from a member here and was told it came with everything needed to convert. I am stuck on one missing part though. The bracket for the XJ6 without sway bar has a much larger hole for the mounting bolt. The 308/XJR bracket has a smaller diameter hole. I am scouring Genuine Jaguar Parts and Jaguar Accessories for classic Jaguars from Jaguar Heritage Parts UK to see what the difference is and part # if the member can't or won't send me the proper bolts. Check it out below. Has anyone converted to a rear sway bar and run into this issue?
The non-sway bar bracket has much larger diameter inner openings. The X308/XJR bracket for rear sway bar has much smaller openings. I need to figure out the part # situation if need be.
This is the larger diameter bolt. There is a hex on it that screws into the back of the diff housing behind the black bracket which sandwiches between the mount and the diff.
Yes I installed a factory rear sway bar along with the thicker front bar that came from a 95 donor car a few years back in my 95 VDP . I don't remember all the in's & out's of the installation but it was a straight forward job, everything was bolt in with no mods. a lot of parts to change though. I dropped the IRS in the process , cleaned & replaced all worn parts, Was it worth it in regard to handling & expense/labor ? NO, IMOP, If your IRS needs to be dropped for any reason & you get the sway bar & ALL the parts very cheap, do it. Remember the matching thicker front bar should be changed also.
