By adaption you are tweeking the maps in the ECU to match a new sensor , not always necessary .

With a ELM327 and your laptop plugged into the OBD 2 port ( $ 8 Ebay including shipping and software ) you can see the sensor values as you drive and record the live data as a rolling graph , but can't tweek the ECU . Someone mentioned it can be done with the right firmware or operating software in your laptop through the ELM327 . Below is an example of lower quality software as there are highers available .
