Default How to Read Broken Odometer

After getting some estimates for rust repair on my 1st XJR6, I decided it would be best to get rid of it. I got really lucky and found a 2nd one close by with less mileage, less mechanical issues, and MUCH less rust. (There's just one patch below the rear window.)

I need to get state inspection done, but they cannot read the broken odometer screen. All the green LCD screens in the car are worn or broken in some way. Is there a way to read the odometer on these cars besides that screen? If not, how can I go about repairing or replacing it?

I have gone to you pull it and pulled off the cluster and just pulled the odometer display. Pretty easy to replace. If you are lucky and the same color you can just swap them. Pretty easy to remove. I have dome it multiple times. There are a few how to on this site

Attempt #1, took the whole cluster out and cleaned with isopropyl alcohol. The big blue FPC has delaminated and let some dirt and corrision inside, so I don't think its getting any better than this. I cleaned the green PCB as well as the zebra connector behind the LCD screen. Looks like I'll be shopping for a new unit.

First of all, I read my post above and either I was half asleep or I need to stop writing posts without my glasses on my phone. That looks like a display issue. Again as you figured out the cluster is very easy to change out. I recommend you find a place that you can return the cluster if it has the same issue but I would also keep your cluster if there is nothing wrong with it and just change out the display. Many cars have the same problem. I know it took me a few trips to U-Pull it to find one that was good. I do have another unit, but as I said they go out often and I am using it for a backup. However, now that you know how to pull it, you know what tools to bring to pull it off another car.

Yeah, I picked up one from ebay with a 60-day return policy. I'll definitely try changing out the little odometer display.

One last update, I put in the new gauge cluster and the issue is fixed! I tried putting the old odometer in, but it just came up blank. I then left it on my bench overnight and the black layer inside seems to have started to bleed out? I'm not sure what's happening to it, but its toast. I've just made a note of how many miles off it is, until I get it programmed.
