I'll be happy to do a search if I know the terms; "cross over" list?

Many years ago, us Porsche 914 owners had a list so we could go to the VW dealer and buy parts for the 914. I forgot what we called it. Saved a ton of money vs. Porsche/Audi (at the time).
Many years later when I owned an '88 Porsche Carrera, I found I could buy Bosch parts made for Fords, namely O2 sensors for about half the price. Same unit, different PN in the respective catalogs.
If I missed it, can you tell me about which parts I can buy that are basically generic?
Just getting started here, gentlemen, so bear with me.

I've seen such lists on older Jags...and the new-ish ones....but nothing on out middle-aged X300s.
It would be a nice thing to have.
One thing I can think of, off hand, is the air injection pump....which is the same used on '95''95 Camaros and Firebirds with a 350 V8.
The V12 and Supercharged versions use the GM 4L80E transmission so most parts are easy as far as that goes.

Ah, I wasn't trying to use a universal one. Generic means copy, not universal. I used a Ford part on my Carrera, the specs were exact as tested by some engineers that own Porsches. Half price and better than that, available over the counter at NAPA. No shipping charges, no waiting, short drive.
Edit: Let me correct myself. The Ford part was "identical." It had a different PN and that's it. Sometimes the length of the leads coming off the thing is the only difference. Thanks for pointing out that the Jag needs a correct part.

Well. Bosch is/was a big supplier to Ford.
And everyone else.....
I'm thinking there is an equivalent sensor out there.
Maybe so, but you can get a no guesswork, known-correct oxygen sensor for your Jag for $70-$130 from any one of dozens of suppliers. Not sure if you're expecting something less expensive than that even IF the same sensor WAS used by Ford or whoever.
Titania sensors are a bit unique and more expensive no matter what cars they were used on.
Google NTK 250-24817 or Bosch 13789 or "19xx Jaguar oxygen sensor" as a starting point. You oughta be able to find whatcha need in about 60 seconds :-). But if it isn't 4-wire and isn't described as Titania, it won't work!

Well, as it happened, I had a tech retrieve codes so I could zero in on my trac control light and ABS light syndrome. Yes, it's probably the solder joints in the controller.
So, as part of the deal, he replaced my O2 sensor, forward, B bank.
I got charged 298 for the part. I might be a little pissed, but it's my own fault trying to show some faith to a mechanic and his shop. I got no estimate and he doubled the labor from the verbally agreed amount to 150.
From now on, it's war between me and Jag shops. The first one I drove into wanted 185 just to read the codes. I must look as stupid as I am.
Thanks to this forum. I'll be here a lot.

Milt, I'm a little surprised at that shop. In California the BAR (Bureau of Automtove Repair), a "force to be reckoned with" as the saying goes, has very specific laws about repair estimates.
But, anyhow, many X300 repairs are well within the realm of a typical DIY mechanic. Just give a shout if you need help. Somebody will jump in.
