interior rear view swap
My rearview mirror was ruined. My car had the single button auto mirror. Which has the square clip mount to the glass. So I ordered one with a slider. It has the round base. Ok popped the stems out the ball joints and swapped. The square base ones ball is a little smaller so use a silicone rubber shim and perfect. Snap it in the car. Ooops theres a bubble. Just a tiny one. 2 days later its getting bigger.
I have seen a basic standard manual flip switch mirror that is claimed to be for several years of xj6's. But it has a completely diff base. The ball joint looks the same so maybe I give that a go. I dont really care if mine is auto dim. Especially if its gonna ruin my wood.
Any feedback?

Send your slider to the guy in the DFW metroplex for a $100 fix. Sorry, don't recall his contact information just now...but I'll try to look it up for you and edit back before the weekend's over. Should be in some of my posts somewhere on here. (I'm a little confused by the "bubble" but I take it your mounting issue with the slider was resolved to your satisfaction and the mirror is failing?)

No fluid to leak out after his fix, if I understand correctly. Mine wasn't leaking, had no spots nor bubbles, but didn't dim. No evidence on interior anywhere to indicate that it had leaked before I purchased the car. I removed it and sent to Scott, got it back a couple days later working 4.0. Dims now, very nice.
