Alright, so I was driving my 1997 VDP a few days ago when my car randomly shuts off, no sputter or anything. So I assumed that it might have stalled or whatever, until the next day when I noticed the guage cluster dancing and putting on a light show, each time ending with a different warning light. The car starts and operates fine until it reaches running temp. then it shuts off. HELP!

Mine has done the same thing.......gauges go crazy and tokyo-at-night light show with the warning lights. No stalling, though.
In my case...two separate instances....a faulty coil was to blame.
Following advice from others here I was able to isolate the offending coil by removing the coil cover and running the engine in a dark garage. If you see a faint flashing in the translucent potting material of the coil, that's the problem coil.
Cheers
