Default Jaguar X300 radio question

Hello,

Is it possible to change the Tuner Grid on a jaguar x300 original radio of 1996.
It's a jaguar 1996 xjr us spec (canada) and it changes in steps of 0,2 mhz, so i can't take for example 103.0 Mhz(FM) only 102.9 (FM)and 103.1 mhz (FM)( it goes from 102.9 to 103.1). Can i change it to steps of 0,1 mhz?

Thanks

Steffen

Is that FM or AM? I'm not sure exactly which one is calibrated in Mhz..... For FM you can get a band expander or something like that.

Personally speaking I think the standard fit radio is rubbish. Unless you wish to totally retain the authentic Jaguar look viz-a-viz the radio, dump it and replace with an Alpine.

Hello,

I like the original X300 radio. Is there a sort of SetUp menu on the original xj x300 radio?

If you have a US-Spec car then the factory radio can't be adjusted to do even-spaced channel steps, it won't tune 92.2, 95.6, 102.2, etc. You would need a Euro-Spec radio, those lack weather band but do have RDS which the US-Spec radios did not (RDS wasn't really in use in the USA in the 1990s)

As has just been said the US spec cars have the 'problem' you have discovered. When I got mine several years ago, it had been imported from Florida. As soon as I tried to tune the radio I found the same issue you have found.
Other than the fact that it looks good in the dash, blending in with everything else, I can see no other reason to retain it. It's performance and power output is very poor.
I replaced mine with an Alpine. Far superior performance and rear CD unit control.

Turn on radio. Press Eject and AM/FM. Press key #1. Press Key #1 again to Select Australia instead of USA.

Sorry to butt in but I just wanted to ask how I would know if the radio in my 1995 XJ6 3.2 was the original radio or one fitted by a previous owner? Is there a photo anywhere that i could compare?
Cheers,
Steve

Edited to say that my car is UK spec.

My Aussie spec car with original stereo (radio cassette with six CD stacker in boot). Yes, the display illumination is gone.
I have since replaced it with a 1DIN sized Pioneer unit.

I guess that mine isn't original but it still looks ok.
All the LED panels work when the ignition is switched on.
As a dedicated Luddite, can anybody tell me what the hole is for at the bottom/right of the radio? Is it just for headphones?
Cheers,
Steve

I'd say if you plug your mp3 player into the jack and press AUX you should hear whatever is playing, in the speakers.

Ahhhhh, One of those, is it?
I'll see if I can spot a young Oik with headphones in his ears and trousers round his knee caps, beat him over the head, borrow his iPod and see if it works.
Ta for the info.
