Jaguar XJR6 Supercharger Removal

Its rather difficult because both throttle body castings bolt to it. And even more things are attached to them. There are just 4 nuts/bolts for the supercharger itself, two visible on the top side and two just like them underneath. I would take the belt off first and make absolutely sure its seized before starting to undo anything else.

I’m guessing you will already have checked whether it turns with the belt off, but strongly echo that last point. Removal is somewhat complicated by the fact you will need to take the inlet manifold off, which in turn is complicated by the fact the wiring harness is threaded through its branches. The throttle body is best removed from below, assuming you are able to get good access from underneath ( ideally a lift ) . No special tools or techniques required, but a test of patience and dexterity!
Disconnect the battery first to minimise the possibility of upsetting the throttle position sensor calibration.

Countryjag mentions the wiring threaded though the inlet manifold and which provides extra difficulty when in the removal process.
My solution ( I must have had plenty of time ) was to place a connector which is easily accessed before the removal process. It also gives easy access to the individual wires for testing purposes if required.
Shame a multi pin connector was not originally incorporated in this position, they seem to have them in many other places.

I toyed with the idea of cutting a channel in the mating face of the manifold to allow the wires to slide out, but lacked the courage in the end. I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t affect its ability to deal, but didn’t want to take the risk. I would be interested to know whether anyone has tried it.
