Jerky Shifts in a XJR
Hello all,
My XJRs auto box the shifts seem very harsh.
Checked the oil level.. Seems pink and the oil goes to the "HOT" line on the dipstick.
That said the oil seems really thin on the dipstick itself.
Possbly worth doing a gearbox oil change? - Whats the procedure.. how much oil do i need ?
Is it true the mountings for the autobox get tired?
Thanks
James

I ALWAYS go for the basics before searching for ODD things.
IF the fluid is of unknown age, then YES, change it.
You will need about?? 4 and a bit litres of fluid.
I ALWAYS use synthetic fluid in ALL my auto trans Jags now, best $$ I ever spent.
It is a TH400 4 speed (4L80E), and is bullet proof, and is electronically controlled from memory. Fluid freshness is the weakest link in any auto trans regardless of the badge on the car.
