Default jumping front end

depending on road surface my front end jumps, ive raised the car and cannot see any broken bushings. i dont really understand the front suspension. the entire thing(cradle or crossmember) dont know the name under the engine drops when I raise the car. I tought it was normal because i saw rubber stops on each side but something is definitly wrong. ive always had japanese cars where the suspensions bolts to the unibody.

those a "V" mounts and if you notice it drop theyre bad. Theyre most notable driving when you brake. It can feel like the front of the car is going to fold up underneath itself

can you point them out in a pic? got this 2 pics from google.
circled in red is where i see it drops a bit when i raise the car.
circled in blue is that entire crossmember or cradle under the engine, thats the piece that moves when raised.

if its not normal for that to drop then what is the part i need to fix? and if its normal what is the purpose of that cradle moving. shoulnt that be bolted to the car solid?

the v mounts are in red. the subframe is NOT supposed to drop down when raised. those mounts are 2 piece steel brackets encased in rubber to isolate road noise in the car. You may also need to replace the 2 round subframe bushings also as theyre likely cracked/broken too. the good news is you suspension is covered in grease and grime. I dont think rusty bolts will be too much of a issue.

so took some pictures of my suspension Vee mount, car raised to show the separation i was talking about. i must say altho it looks weird it also looks like something normal, maybe not. thats why im asking here. it is about the same on both sides.

I don't think Evostik's going to fix that somehow (worked for my air intake box mounts though)

wow, those things are shot.

Does that mean that his shocks/dampers, steering rod, and brake lines are all that is holding the front crossmember to the car?

A very common failure on XJ40 / X300 / X308.

With that much of a gap when you've raised the front of the vehicle for the pics, be very careful the cooling fan isn't fouling against the radiator shroud.

it holds because it seems the vee mounts have a safety strap that holds it together when they fail. like u can see in the pic. anyways hoping this is the cause of the front end jumping on some road surfaces. I also checked the rear subframe bushings and those look good. could only spot the swaybar bushings, front lower shocks bushings being bad aswell. the rest looks good.

brutal, i wish you had been right about the rust on suspension. i dont know how im gonna remove those torx bolts. gonna plan for a long day to replace those 2.
