Both the driver door and trunk need to be open for it to work.

1. Open trunk
2. Open drivers door
3. Turn ignition on but don't start the car
4. Rock valet switch 5 times
After those steps, you should hear the chirp and also headlights flash

Didn't work. The thing is, I am still sorting through this car. The check engine light is on, and I took it to a nearby auto parts store, and they say that both anti-knock sensors are showing as bad. Don't know if I should trust a cheap scan tool though. And certainly don't know if that would cause the cruise not to work either. Ugh, what makes us like these Jags so much?

I stand corrected. I opened the truck, left the drivers door open, turned on the switch without starting, and with three quick presses of the valet switch, the car chirps. But the remote I bought for a Saab won't cause the car to chirp again, no matter how long I hold it. Any tips appreciated. We knock these things out one at a time, lol

Ok, lets try it this way, if anybody can help. The remote I bought, I just took the back off of, and it is a 315 Mhz. My car is VIN#791541
What now?

One of the first ten posts in this thread there is a link to a PDF that show the two different ways you can tell which frequency your car uses. I can't pull it up right now since I'm on my mobile Ipad app and can't view PDF files.

According to the technical bulletin, my car has to be a 433MHz. Seems that was started at 759614 and my car is way beyond that. So, I've emailed the seller, to see if he might have a 433 MHz.

That seems to be where your problem is then. Mismatched frequencies between your car and the key fob. Hopefully the seller would be able to help you out.

I just my Saab fob and it did not worked for 1997 XJ6. The seller advertised as a 433Mhz but i checked inside the battery cover and it was a 315Mhz. Three times is the charm. I will buy another Saab fob and will make sure the seller check inside the battery cover. I refuse to pay $100.00 plus US dollars for a used Jaguar key fob.

To clarify.....

The SAAB part number LTQF433 could be 315 or 433 mz, yes? The '433' in the part number doesn't indicate the frequency, correct?

Is there any model year vs. frequency relationship? Would (let's say) a 1994-95-96 likely be a 315 and 1997-98 be 433?

Cheers and thanks
DD

Mine was 315, so the part # does not indicate the frequency.

Hmm, from all the conversation, I think the 315 will work for my 95. What's your price on the one that didn't work for you?

My Saab LTQFM433 came in the mail today and is 315 mhz and will not work in my 1997. So I emailed the seller to see if he has a 433 mhz. I paid $16.88 for the 315 mhz FOB. So far, I have not found the Saab FOB 433 mhz FOB like the one in the OPs picture. We need the model number of the Saab 433 mhz key FOB that will work in a 1997 Jag. Anyone???

I came to the conclusion that 1997 X305 owners are out of luck. Saab fob will not work. It is strange that the Saab fob part number is 433. Maybe later year Saab had 433 MHz just like the Jaguar. All sellers copied each other only and called all Saab fob with 433 part number.

I guess this is the only one that will work on a 1997 XJ6? They must know it and that is the reason for the high price.

I talked with the seller of the Saab remote I bought. They suggest I send it back for a full refund. It is a 315 MHz. The XJR (x300) cars switched frequencies along the way somewhere in 96. My car is a 97. It is the 433 MHz. The seller took all of the Saab remotes he had apart while we were on the phone, and said all of them stated 315 MHz, although the part number leads you to believe it is 433MHz.....sigh...the search continues...

Who was the seller you purchased from?
I have one getting delivered on Monday but now I'm afraid it won't work...
or a link to the auction?

The seller is "keylessentryremote" on eBay. I feel that we are chasing a dead end on the 433 MHz cars. I talked with good friend that owns a locksmith shop. He felt that the only remote that would work is the 97 specific remote. 98 went to trunk release button, and a panic button. Most likely different.

Good News. I took a chance and purchased one of the following "Code Learning" 433mhz Fobs and it worked like a charm. But this is ONLY for those with at least one currently working Fob. Total cost $13 shipped from UK to US.

Suede,
Great. Unfortunately, I do not have a working FOB now so I am still looking. Wondering if you cloned one and sold it to me, would it work?
