Default Key stuck in Ignition, car wont start, please help me!

hello everyone, I own a 1996 Jaguar XJ6/x300. I went the car shop today to change my brake switch, and upon changing it everything was fine, I started the car and everything seemed like it worked correctly. Then I had the mechanic go into a trunk because I have a problem with the trunk button opening, I can only do it manually with the key, but wont open through the dash in the front or the trunk button on the back. So after checking fuses, relays, wires, the actculator itself we didnt see any problems. So we couldnt figure out what it was, so I was just saying to myself let me go over to a differentshop where I had a aftermarket alarm installed with remote start on it to have it checked out, as I am getting into the car the car starts but I cannot get the shifter out of park mode, then as I shut the car off to restart it, cant get it to start, the key gets jammed in the ignition and the shifter wont budge. I then put a screwdriver in the little hole in the shifter to get it out of park which did work, but the car still wouldnt start and the key still wont come out of the ignition. If anyone can please help me, the car is still in the shop, if nothing by tomorrow of it goes to a Jaguar tech shop. Thanks for anyones help!

Holy smokes, that sounds like a quite a pickle you're in. I can't help you, but wanted to wish you luck on getting it out. Plus, you get a bump. Hope someone can help direct you to opening up the ignition so you can get your key out.

Sounds like a stuck tumbler in the lock cylinder. This is common on GMs though I haven't experienced it on a jag. I know on the GM's if you cant turn the key to the accessory position to press down the tab (inside the steering column) in order to remove the cylinder then it needs to be drilled out. The Jag may or may not be similar. Best of luck
