License Plate Insert Hardware??
I have a 1997 XJ6. Does anyone know where to get the correct plastic fasteners that the rear license plate screws go into? I bought a generic set from pep boys and they are too large. They will not fit into the hole even when squeezing them down with a wrench...
Thanks

I just made one that can be 3D printed as I couldn't find hardware to mount my plate either.

i have custom mounting and custom fasteners.
not perfect but it works.
when i got my car the number plate was just screwed directly into the boot.
and there were other holes under it from previous plate mounted in a different location.
i had no idea there was proper factory mounting hardware.

For me little things like this are always add ons to larger orders. They will not change the shipping cost on a larger item at all but make 0 economical sense to ship by themselves.
surely there is a generic fastener you can find at you local parts/hardware store that will do the job?
not sure what the OEM pieces look like so unsure. But would have to think it is nothing special.
right now my boot has the little plastic clips from trim screws in it and they hold the numberplate screws just fine.

I agree with you. My issue is living more than an hour away from any large city, so I'd be spending $30 on gas if I pick up myself.
