limp mode and amber gearbox warning light
Hi all i was driving my x300 1994 4.0 sport up to the classic car show yesterday when all of a sudden the car started juddering i pulled into a service area to try and find out what was wrong and my vision was met by the amber gearbox light plus the car wouldn't hold its revs on start up without the throttle pedal pressed i managed to get back home with the car running like crap but now i'm concerned that i'm looking at a hefty garage bill can anyone advise on what to do next thank you.

mine does the same...and i find it only happens when i drive slow from initial start up...if i drive slowly without the car upshifting for a time (a block or two) the car will go into limp mode and the gearbox fault will light up....I then, put in park, restart the car and drive somewhat aggressive for the next 200-300 feet causing the car to upshift...from then on ....the rest of my drive is smooth sailin...every once in a while it will happen if im stuck in traffic creeping along...i just restart...and find a hole....
So...other than the obvious...does anyone have any information on what could be causing this?
