I have a 95 xj6 vdp with non functioning seat memory. The seats still work in all adjustments, the mirrors still work on memory, the drivers seat tickles like its going to adjust but does not. I've heard that it is a problem with the sensor that tells the module where the seat is currently located. Can anyone confirm or deny? What can I do about it? I dont know what part to look for.

1 Don't all the VDP package come with the memory seats ?[&:]
2 Anyway, myguess is a bad sensor or module ,the motors should be fine since you hear the sound when you press on the button.
3 Welcome btw

2 couldnt be motors, seat still adjusts, and auto exit still moves the seat all the way back to let you out.Could be module, but not likely as the mirrors still adjust to memory settings. Probably sensors, but I cant find any info about them.
3 Thanks

I believe you are in jail for the moment. The modules fail regularly on these cars. I believe they are still on back order from the dealer and I'm out of all my used ones. Sorry.

I have a 1997 XJ6 L and when I bought it last year the memory seats didn't work. They move with the manual switches, but I am 5'7" and my husband is 6'4" and I need the memory adjustement to work. I want to have it fixed, but I've already had to pour almost $2000 into it just to get it back to it's glory. Who ever owned it before us treated it terribly. It's horrible to see that with a Jaguar. Hopefully another $1000 and it will feel like new. Just have to get a few cosmetic things done now, like the memory in the seats and the jaguars on the rims. (they popped off three of the wheels)

I've just had mine repaired, and it wasn't the seat control unit, but the potentiometers, which control the position settings for each seat adjustment. There are 5 altogether, and 4 had failed. the whole seat memory system doesn't work if any are gone. I couldn't find all available through third party parts suippliers, so bit the bullet and went to an independant mechanic. cost: Jag parts(#s JLM211117, 18, 19, 20:$ 245.00 each, total $980.00, installation $382.00, with a one year replacement warrantee). About $500.00 less than the local Jag dealer.
It's definitely worth it when your seat adjusts to you whenever you get in the car. Luxury!
