MIL light on P0336
Hello I hope someone has run into this.I have a 1996 v-12 6.0 litre. The speed sensor code keeps coming back when I put the car in gear.It limits the revs to 3000rpms. The odd part is that if I clear code and rev in park it acts normally and revs to max. When I drop into gear it shuts one of the fuel pumps and limits the revs. The trans mission has been replaced.I have checked and scoped the cam sensor ,crank sensor and speed sensor All ok the speed sensor p0336 code I scoped at the ecm.Ok..I'm stumped? Has anyone seen anything like this? Best regarde jagnut

The engine would run poorly without the speed sensor input. The gearbox was replaced so I would start there. Was it damaged or installed slightly out of adjustment??

Hello Bob thanks for your reply.I replaced the speed sensor and am receiving good waveform signal at ecm. I took stone cover off to look at convertor and reluctor ring.Looked normal no runnout pried back and forth on flywheel to see if crank had endplay..none??What would you check next? As I mentioned ,the engine will rev normally when I clear code and before it is placed in gear. As soon as I move the gate through reverse to fowardthe code and mill comes back.I noticed that the gear shift gate is not adjusted properly though..by this I mean that I have to move it to the far left in drive before it engages. It seems to shift with no problems and has power until about 2800-3000rpms. I can drive it allday this way but it is only on primary fuel pump. Best Regards
