Hey, just out with the car this morning and I see a large crack coming from the top of the windscreen about 2 inches long, had to drive home and in that time it got another half inch longer.
I’ve contacted my insurer and booked in a replacement, the company say they have a new windscreen, my question is how will the outer Chrome and rubber trims fair when being taken out or do these come with the new windscreen? Has anyone replaced one of these before and how did it go?
Cheers for any help!

The Chrome and Rubber are just a cosmetic trim around the screen. They will pop out easily before the screen (which is bonded to the body) is removed.
If you have a heated screen make sure you get the right replacement. Also, it's easy to lose the little connector piece on the chrome at the top middle (ask me how I know).
The trim and rubber are cosmetic. The glass is bonded to the body.
Repairer came to my office to do my X300. It took around an hour asnd there was no damage to the trims. Removing the old glass looks a bit savage as it is cut out with a hot blade and the recessed lip on the body cleaned before the new glass is fitted. Found a small patch of rust on the bottom corner of mine which was treated first.
