Default Obd2 scanner UK

I’ve been reading up on obd2 scanners and there is such confusion everywhere and seemingly no answers so I know someone here should be able to shed some light for me!

I have an x300 registered in 1997 so hopefully obd2 compliant?

I want something I can read engine fault codes with and also live data like long and short term fuel trims ( low mpg so would like to see). Ideally I want a standalone unit that can either display the data itself or I can plug into a laptop, not wanting a Bluetooth/phone adapter as my phone is rubbish!

im in the UK so hopefully someone can suggest something I can get here for a reasonable price, not looking for anything to break the bank but I’m happy to spend a bit on something that will definitely tell me what I want to know.

Thanks for any help.

I've got a Foxwell NT520 Pro, which I bought principally for diagnostics on a 2000 S-Type. Worked well and allowed me to identify which wheel abs sensor was causing a fault.
If you are near enough you can come and test it. I'm near J29 of the M1 near Chesterfield.

Thankyou for your reply, unfortunately I’m all the way down in cornwall but your offer is much appreciated!
