Oil leak front drivers side 1995 XJ6
Hello all. I just purchased a 1995 XJ6, before I bought it the owner agreed to replace a valve cover gasket to stop a oil leak. Well I drove it to a few places today and would stop and look for drips, nothing, until I parked it in my shop for about an hour and a small but decent size pool of oil showed up under the drivers side about a foot in and centered with the left front tire. Any help would be welcomed.
(Also, the oil seems very clean, I just had the oil changed this morning, but is it possible that it's something besides oil?)

I posted this in general, thought it may get some more traction in here.

Being a USA car, you have an engine oil cooler, with hoses and some o/rings, in that general area.
The notorious oil sender unit is also right there.
The coolant header/filler tank is directly above that area also, and the grommet for the lo coolant in the bottom of that tank can leak.
Sooooooo, based onthe unknown item, put ya finger in it and have a tak, oil is oil, coolant is bitter.
Oil spilss on these when the filter is spun off, and lazy workers fail to clean up the residual mess. This spillage will find it way to the ground eventually, gravity works well.
The camcover gasket on taht side is teh "high side" of the engine, and leaks on taht high side are very rare. The "low side" is the main leak area of that gasket.
Some very quiet/careful diagnostics will find it.
A quicky repost in the X300 section will get better, more specific answers, but those are the areas I found on my X300.

Close to the oil filter housing is the take off for the oil cooler pipes as you don't have an oil cooler like myself, in its place will be a horse shoe shape casting which ineffect joins the two oil ways together, this is sealed with two floating spigots for want of a better description which has an o ring at each end, these have probably hardened with age and failed, mine did, the lower part of this housing comes off with one small bolt, remove the two spigots and replace the o rings and reassemble, I took a spigot two a local auto parts store for a match and got 4 o rings for 1£ , if only all problems were that easy to fix, good luck.

Although the oil filter is tight, there is one scenario where it will leak - I've seen it first hand.
The oil change guy spun the old filter off but failed to notice the filter's o-ring was stuck to the mating surface. So he spins on a new filter and tightens it.
So, yea, the filter is tight, but it has mashed down on the old o-ring, which in turn has buckled under pressure, which resulted in gaps.
Because your leak showed after an oil change, I'd be concentrating on the immediate areas where things are removed / replaced (first).
Some cars have an under-engine tray, so even though an oil leak drips at location A, it might originate from location B, a distant offset away.

Yeah, good point. I wonder if replacing the valve cover gasket caused a leak in another area, on down the line so to speak. Like when you are fixing a leak in house plumbing, Car was very well cared for but not driven hardly at all in the past several months. I may just replace every seal relating to oil leaks while I'm under there.
