Default Outdoor car cover

I need to buy an outdoor car cover which is seriously robust. (I live on the west coast of Wales and it will need to survive strong winds and a lot of rain.)

Any suggestions?

I have never found one that does what it claims.

Damage to the paint etc is high, sadly.

They ALL rub, etc, no matter how tight you pull them, then the tighter you pull them, the more damage that exercise does.

A garage is the only way, and I know that is not always possible.

I have wondered about trapped damp as well. At least if it's in the open the rain falls (a lot in St Davids) but then gets breeze dried. Are there inflatable covers these days that might work?

Over 20 years ago, I used one to cover my Porsche. The cover's main use was not necessarily to protect against high wind (which would result in objects being flung at the car) and rain, but to protect against the harsh sun and for security. And for when I went to the coast, to protect from blowing sand and salt water in the air.

It was a high end unit with a soft underbelly and was designed so the [few] seams were on the outside, verses against the paint (much like wetsuit rash guards are). If memory serves, it was a Covercraft, fitted to car, which is better than a universal fit.

You might also consider a car canopy - it's basically a tent for a car, though you will need to latch it to the ground, so it doesn't blow away.
