XJR Guy works at a dealer as I recall and likely accessed the Jaguar data base for the info. He'll come along shortly, no doubt, and bail us out :-)

I have a similar code to Cato, my 10th letter is B on a 95 Daimler double six made for Japanese market. I am trying to get the code deciphered with difficulty, also like Cato there is no codes on the door posts. XJRGuy where did you find the needed info for Cato, I would appreciate similar help. My VIN # SAJDKKLS4BP751712.
Thanks, Harry

The Jaguar service manual is no help :-(

The description of the 10th digit is "Model Change. B or R or S. 1995 MY"

That's it, nothing more. I have no idea what they're referring to.

Have you contacted JDHT ?

Cheers

Wild guess:

The first "K" represents "VanDen Plas". Since the car is badged and marketed as a Daimler Double Six (but surely trimmed as a VDP) maybe the "B" represents that particular "model change" ?

<shrug>

Well, the paint should be Titanium, paint code LFA; the interior is Nimbus Grey, which is code LFJ. Jaguar does list it as Daimler Double Six 6.0L. What I find is as you indicated, it was originally sold in Japan, but it seems it had its warranty restricted four months after it was purchased. That usually means it was crashed and ruled a total loss. That might explain why you can't find the trim placard anywhere.

Cheers,

Yes the colour is metalic grey or titanium, interior is grey, I can only describe the car as in excellent condition for the year, I would be shocked if its a write off. I appreciate your valuable & expert knowledge.
Best regards, Harry

Best regards, Harry
Japan has very stringent vehicle inspection requirements and these are even more exacting for imported vehicles. The inspection procedure starts with new vehicles and compliance can be very costly if anything does not meet regulations in full.

It is often totally uneconomical for the Japanese to repair even minor issues. If a vehicle does not have the appropriate validation, it must be crushed or exported. This is the most likely explanation for your Daimler 66 in good condition being exported from Japan.

I am starting to get concerned now if the cars warrenty was restricted after 4 months from new. it is only 2 months since the car arrived in UAE from Japan, so it has remained in Japan for 17 years. I keep saying that its in immaculate condition inside & out. I will try to post some pics if I find the way to do it. There is a sticker on the rear window Raffay garage...also some papers in Japenese. I am very grateful for all the replies I have had here, so thanks. Harry

Here's two links on how to post pics:

How to: Post pictures - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum - FAQ

It's down to whether you want to copy them from your PC or link to online storage such as Photobucket.

I don't think I'd worry too much, Harry. Obviously someone took pains to repair/restore the car based on your assessment of it. I think the data on the car indicated the damage was at the front, I thought it was sort of strange to state that, never seen that before. If it seems intact, and performs to make you happy......enjoy it!

Cheers,

Geez, I'm sorry I missed this one back in June.

Your colors are British Racing Green paint [HFB] and Coffee interior [SDC].
Original seller was Gorin Jaguar, in Connecticut.

Again, my apologies.
