Parcel shelf with subwoofer - need info ;)
Good day!
I've done a little search on the forum, I gathered so far that the subwoofers were available in X300 as an option, with the premium sound system. I am aware of the space available there and how to get to it, as I've taken the seats and shelf out before. But since I'm keeping my JAg for longer, than I expected, I believe it would be worth to finally upgrade the sound system (a little treat for my Jags 18th birthday). I've found in one of the posts, that the premium system has some sort of a grille in the parcel shelf, above the subwoofer (sounds logical).
So, dear fellows, could any of you post a picture of mentioned grille? I looked it up on eBay, but no luck, so I'll try to come up with reasonable solution, which would have most factory look to it.

when I installed the new sound system in my XJR the bass was pretty crappy
I didn't want a sub woofer again as they shake the car to pieces so I installed 4 of theseAura Sound Bass Shaker 4 Ohm 50W MMS
1 under each seat with a 200 watt amp to drive them I get lots of comments from friends that sit in the car now and no one outside can hear a thing
my mate had a Boxter and it had 2 from alpine under the seats from the factory that's what made me think of them again
just a thought as the original sub in the x300 is just a 6x9 bass driver

cheers Doc, of course I'm not even going to bother with any part of the original sound system, I plan to replace all the speakers and wiring as well. I was just considering building FG enclosure and using the original opening for some sort of slimline subwoofers. But I'll have to do more research what I can get in UK, at a reasonable budget, yet good quality I mean, this car did cost me 600 quid + 200 quid I've spent on new parts and servicing it
Not quite sure which way I want to go about it, but it is very tempting to replace the headunit with some sort of touchscreen tablet and run the music through separate amp...
I know, that doesn't sound too cheap either... Eh, full of ideas, not much money though... The good news is, I've found cheap(-ish) insurance for my Jag, so finally I'll be able to drive, from April this year

I have upgraded the X300 sound system with a Parrot Asteroid for handsfree music & phonecalls, and 4 x 5 1/4 JVC door speakers. This gave a good sound when stationary, but the road noise (NZ coarse-chip tarmac) killed any bass perception so yesterday I had a subwoofer installed. I asked that it be easily removable for spare wheel access or more boot/trunk space for luggage so the old CD changer brackets have been used with wingnuts.
The subwoofer is just breaking in, and I am told it will loosen up over a couple of weeks. First sub I've had. I just wanted a bit more low end for Stones/Who/Led Zep etc, without killing the door speakers. I like it so far, but now I'm wondering if I need some 6x9s to fill in above 100Hz.. not sure where a sensible place to fit 6x9s would be - the parcel shelf only has a narrow space above the petrol tank.
Any ideas?
