Parts--new--used--and other topics
Can you guys recommend vendors I should use for x300 parts? Are used parts a bad idea (e-bay, vendors..ect)? Are any of the after market companies better than others, quality wise-----I work in education so lets just say I'm not
$$$$$.
Also wondering why some Jaguars have the leaper on the hood and some only have the badge. Am I correct in thinking the cars sold in the U.S. have the ornament and cars sold in the UK had the badge?
I also can't seem to find a Haynes type manual for the x300. I did the download from this site, but I would like to have a published book also---weird that way I guess. Thanks for the help and info-------Scott

Coventry West and Motorcars Ltd. are two of several well-known-and-reputable Jag specialists. IMHO it usually pays to develop a relationship with a Jag specialist. There will be times where Jag-specific knowledge is very helpful.
However.....
You neighborhood parts store can provide many of the things you need as can on-line vendors such as Rock Auto or PartsGeek.

Correct as far as X300 models go. The answer isn't as simple on older models :-)

I don't care for Haynes so I've never bothered looking. JDHT (Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust) offers manuals on CD that are generally very good...and surprisingly reasonable. Watch for compatibility issues with Vista, though, if that's what system you're running. Some vendors sell 'em on Ebay but watch for bootleg copies.

good Info
Thanks Doug and Tophat for the Info. I will do a search on the specialists you mentioned and look into the CD. Unfortunately I am running vista, but I have access to other laptops that are running XP. I did get some info off the jag-lovers site which was also helpful. I like manuals because pictures are always helpful. I know what you mean about Haynes, I used to use them alot on motorcycles and it always seemed like you got 98% of the info needed. I'm sure I will have more technical questions when the car comes back from the painters and I get to drive her everyday. Now I have to tell my wife she was right on the whole leaper inclusion issue. I argued against that one Have a good evening-----scott

Thanks
thanks for the info. I will check some of the dealers and see what I find. I went out this morning and reorganized my tool box and of course my kids managed to lose some tools (skate board and bike repair) so I am going to need to replenish some stock. I am not anticipating problems with the x300, but it is nice to be prepared----------scott
