Possessed Radio Antenna

So today about 30 minutes into my drive, my antenna decides to retract all by itself while the radio is still on. The radio never turned offer. Then just a few moments later, it extended itself. This happened again and again. Sometimes it would stay in the down position for a few minutes then randomly extend. I did a thread search on the topic and someone a while back had a similar issue when he or she was accelorating or decelorating but was ok above 40. Mine still acted like it was possessed at any speed. Anyone have any ideas?

For the last few days my antennae has been hiccupping. The drive motor runs full cycle but the the up and down distance it travels varies from complete to only 3/4's of an inch. I have also noticed a thick black cup grease type substance around the section breaks and have cleaned it off but that doesn't make it work any better. ![Icon Shrug](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_shrug.gif)
I can pull the antennae up manually with all but the top section moving almost too easily but the top section is extremely difficult to move. I'm thinking it is a lubrication problem but don't know where to begin. I've tried cleaning all the nasty stuff off and then wiping it down with a WD40 cloth but doesn't make a difference. The one thing that works for a day or so is waxing the antenna.
I can't really think this is not a familiar problem to alot of people but somebody must have expierienced it. Any help will make my life alot easier as in......anybody ever ride in a car with a 16-year-old daughter that won't pull in her favorite FM station?
