brand new to me 96 xj6..seats non functioning. But there's a constant clicking emanating from under drivers seat and when seat controls are tried..nada, but when i press memory on door..i can hear motor attempt to engage, but no movement..passenger seat totally non responsive...

 

----UPDATE--- Ok, so upon further investigation i found and checked all fuses (good) apparently the clicking was from the door lighting relay driver side footwell..not the seat motor. as its virtually impossible to see under seats i cant tell whether connections are bad, but i doubt both seats wouldn't work simultaneously. But who knows. pried off side seat controls, checked connector..all good. any ideas from past experiences ? Thanks !!

 

Well, I just purchased a new/used XJ6L, and the seat did not work. Having tons of drivers modules I replaced it and it kind of worked. After further investigation, there are a few stripped gears, and the seat is basically kaput. I am now in the process of getting another seat, or at least trying to. I also found a few of the gears and will try to replace them. However, Jaguar did not make that too simple and will require a little metal cutting and welding to get it repaired.

I have found a few of those but the mail issue is being able to get to the gear. I have pulled the rails off but the main gear that moves the seat forward and backward. You can’t get it off without drilling out the rivets or cutting the hole and then rewelding
