Smile Problem with trunk (boot) electric lock-solved

Thought all my friends would enjoy this little experience.

Went out to the garage and tried to open the"boot" by pushing the boot button on the 95XJ6. Nothing! Tried the dash button. Nothing! Oh boy. Tried the key in the boot lock and thank goodness that worked. At that point I knew it had to be an electrical disconnect. To shorten the story I tore into the boot lid and check all wiring, lock mechanism, control rods and wire bundle at boot lid hinge. All seemed fine except no power to the motor that open the boot. Frustration set in. But, for some reason I got out the key fob and tried to lock the car with it. The doors were not locked at this time. Nothing! Now I was really worried. Next I hit the unlock button on the fob and got the normal beep and light flash and interior lights on. Next I tried to lock the doors and they locked. Unlocked the doors and they unlocked. Tried the boot switch on the dash and .....IT WORKED. Tried the button on the boot and it... WORKED. For some reason the system suddenly was working as it was supposed to.

Now I have to put all that stuff back together in the boot. I guess there is never a dull moment when you own a Jaguar. Especially when you have two of them.

You may have hit the valet switch my accident, that would prevent unlocking by the button and the dashboard switch. It reset after an unlock sequence.

My 95 plays these games all the time. I usually just cycle the locks a couple of times using the key in the drivers door and everything works as it should for a few days.

By using the key in the trunk that has in the past gotten rid of the valet option. And I did try the key in the door as well. I think the darn thing just got confused or just decided it had been good for too long. At least it wasn't anything serious or expensive. And I didn't go ahead and bore a hole with my hole saw behind the license plate as I was thinking about doing as a backup plan.
