programing a keyless remote

Default programing a keyless remote
I have a 1997 xj6 vandan plas and purchased a new remote and can not program using the instructions. I have checked online and have tried all that I have found. Is there someone with a clue what I need to do? I just do not believe my learn mode is being activated.

Did you ever get it programmed?
