Default Question about cylinder lock/Tumbler on X300 Jag

hi, on my 1996 XJ6 I had a problem with a part of the sterring column where a wire plugs into to release the key, so I was told by a Jaguar tech I dont need that wire plugged in, so after unplugging that wire my key was able to be released. Now My question is, sometimes when I put my key into the ingition its hard for it to turn, does this have to do with my clyinder lock wearing? or is it have to do with the pressure from the wire I disconnected that puts pressure for the key to come out? thanks.

I would suspect the tumbler is wearing. The wire should not have any effect on the key.
