With the executive model you most likely have the standard radio option that does not include a separate power amplifier for the speakers

Fuse X and Y

See page 160

http://www.jagrepair.com/images/AutoRepairPhotos/jagxj1997.pdf

The on off switch is called a encoder of a certain shaft size

You can try to clean it or just replace it

There are tiny screws om the units side box enclosure so the unit must come out

With the unit in your hands the front plastic panel must come off to get to the encoder

It would help if you identify the size of the hole the radio fits in: 1din is 2" x 7"

It is 1 din with a funny curved face plate. If it helps.

Now my radio digital display panel illumination has gone out too. I'm doing my best to say no to original head unit replacement.

I had to use search to find out how to re-illuminate the panel but came up empty.

But I'm not going to ask Parker how to do it because of pride.

Someone recently came up with a easy solution to the radio button lights

After a while I might be able to find it again

Ok thanks again Katar, I remember seeing that. At the time I assumed it was for the button backlights. I have button backlighting, but no display backlighting. So I will take it apart and see if I can replace that resistor for the panel lighting. I'll let you know how it goes.
