Default Radio question on 1996 xj6 vanden plas

I have two blown speakers, trying to determine if my car has premium upgrade Harman Kardon or base system. it has 8 visible speakers, 2 tweeters in dash and rear and 4 mid range (one in each door) and a factory 6 disc changer in trunk. I have learned the Harman system has a sub and a amp. Does anyone know where these are located?

Regards,

David

Have never heard of Infinity sound in an X300.

An Alpine CD changer could be added to the base system. The next and only other step up was the Premium Sound (or whatever they called it) which added a HK amp and included the CD changer. That system used 9 speakers ( 1 woofer, 4 mid range, 4 tweeter). All systems used the same (notoriously unreliable) Alpine radio.

Not sure if the tweeters are interchangeable from either a physical or audio standpoint. Sorry. My guess, and that's all it is, would be "yes".

Cheers
DD

Location of the HK amp, if you have one, will depend on the CD changer location. If the changer is under the parcel shelf, the amp should be right beside it to the left. If the changer is behind the trim at the LH side of the boot, then the amp will be attached to the same brackets that hold the changer. Also, premium sound cars have a large subwoofer in the parcel shelf, just off center to the left.

Cheers,
