Radio vs. measument panel light
Hi
I got an interesting problem. My original radio was broken, and I bought a second hand one to replace it. When connecting the new radio, I found the following: radio works nicely, also c-cassettes work but the cd-player is dead. And the most odd thing is, that the measurement panel lights goes on, when switching off the power from the ignition key. So if I connect my radio, lights are on all the time. So I can’t connect the radio as otherwise the battery would get empty pretty soon. Does anybody have any hints to solve this problem?

Hi
Thanks for your reply. My car is one of the first x300, made in 1994 and the cd player is Alpine. I guess that is the problem there. Any hint for solving the problem of the light in measurement panel when the car is switched off? The problem appears only when the radio wires are connected.

Leave the original radio in the car! (or find an early radio)
When I worked at the dealer, a customer came in for a radio replacement.
After the replacement, he came back and said his CD player stopped working. (Alpine CD unit)
I showed him the bulletin and he declined the repair. I reinstalled his original radio and he left.
Can't help with wiring issues without 'being there'.
