Rear brakes

Fairly easy job. Back of the parking brake with the main adjuster under the car. Take the wheels off, undo two caliper bolts each side, should be just enough space to get an extension in there as they will be tight, use impact sockets only.
Remove the caliper and the whole disc if you're replacing this too. If you're lucky, parking brake pads should still be there and attached to the backing plate. If you cant pull the disc off, you will need to back off the star adjuster but hopefully you wont have to touch them!
Job becomes way more complicated if you're replacing brake hoses and/or parking brake pads. Brake hoses can fuse together with the bracket where they are attached, had to cut of mine of the body. Parking brake, oh well, getting new pads balanced each side is a bit of a 'mission impossible', took me ages to figure everything out and to get them right.

For the XJS, there's a plastic cap on each of the two 7mm hex screws that are needed to be loosened and pushed back to remove the brake shoes.
There's also a metal clip on the brake shoes that need to be removed.
If you want the whole caliper off, there's more to the story. I have not replaced my rear rotors yet...
