I'm in the process of doing the same thing. What I've learned so far is that installing one with a compass is simple, since the compass & dim feature are powered from the same wire source already at the overhead panel. The temp feature requires the probe be installed under the front bumper, which of course requires that wiring be run from the mirror, through the headliner, down the post, and through the firewall out to the probe location. ebay has an incredible number of mirrors available, both new & used with both features as well as more advanced features, such as OnStar. Most mirrors are with the wedge mount, so your camlock button would have to be changed, using extreme precaution so as not to break the windshield. Hope this helps you.

thanks Sharay38,
I think I will skip the ones w/ temp setting.. there's an OEM outside temp indicator in the car anyway,.. I don't see any reason for redundancy.
I've ordered one w/ a compass on ebay for $40 shipped.. I will refer to a windshield shop to remove the button and glue a new one in.. I am fairly confident I will crack the windshield if I attempt it myself
