Relays
Hi just a quick question my Jag dealer tells me to only replay a bad relay on my Jag with a jag bought relay now I have taken one apart along with one from the wife Jeep and they look just the same and each fits into each others car. Yes they are numbered different but would anyone know if you can use either or on these Jags?
Thanks

AFAIK the relays ...most of them, at least....on your Jag are fairly generic.
Check the numbers next to the terminals and compare with the replacement relay. If they match, you should be good to go.
I say "should be" because some relays have the same terminals and numbers but may have diodes or resistors across the terminals. This is usually indicated on the relay somewhere. In fact, some relays actually have a diagram showing the internal configuration.
Cheers

Doug is right a relay that looks the same may have a spike suppresion diode or a resistor and this is critical if it is a computer controlled circuit .
So can you use a non jag relay, sure if it is electrically compatable if in doubt dont do it unless you are certain what you are using is the electrical equivalent otherwise saving money can be very expensive
