Removing Switch-Pack from the Driver's seat?

You need to squeeze the 2 tabs at the top inside.
They can be done one-at-a-time but it looks like you broke the faceplate off the switch.
I have several old switches you can look at to see how they are held in place but it looks like you already have it opened.
I can't remember if my XJ8 training guide has the switch removal instructions in the interior soft trim section.
I don't have the X300 guide but the seats are very similar.
Let me know if I can help.

Well, despite buttons and lights on the dash (and I could swear I've heard relays click in two different areas when I've turned on the pax htr and the driver htr) but anyway...nothing between leather and seat foam with wires protruding from it.
I had expected to find something like this:
95 96 97 Jaguar XJ6 Heated Seat Coil S Blanket LFT Back | eBay
95 96 97 Jaguar XJ6 Heated Seat Coil S Blanket Bottom L | eBay
But found only this:
and this:
No blanky with wires in cushion nor seatback
Here's the tabs on the headrest collars:
THe tabs are on the sides. What looks like a locking tab at about the 12 o'clock position is a keying/clocking device, insuring that the locking tabs are on the sides when installed. If you have the back off the seat, you can pinch the locking tabs on this part of the headrest mechanism and slide it up enough to get at the back side of the collar-locking tabs:
Like so:
I do hope I've not broken the faceplate on the switchpack, but wouldn't be surprised if I have. The only loose pieces that went tumbling when I got it off were the switch buttons, and I recovered all of them intact. At least now I can take the seatback cover with the hole in the side-bolster
to someone who can hopefully sew in a new panel and dye to match. Then...I'm a bit pessimistic about my chances...but I do have newly arrived hog-ring pliers and I'll go buy some rings.....I hope I can string it all back together but may well wind up dragging it all off to a professional, with tail tucked neatly between my legs and begging him to fix what I've done....
Meanwhile, my timing cover seal and seal-puller tool have both arrived, so I reckon I can go back to greasy work, and the Damper Doctor has charged my credit card a couple of days ago - and according to him, that would mean he has completed the rebuild (it may mean he's already shipped it back - but all I recall is him saying he wouldn't charge me prior to fixing it. So I've got plenty to keep busy with to keep me from worrying about whether or not I'll ever have a proper driver's seat again....researching the unused yellow two-pin plug with red wires to see if that is the heater circuit notwithstanding.......

Nice project!
I am interested in the way the head rest is connected. My headrest from drivers seat is not going up/down anymore. When I use the switch I hear the electric motor engaging. Can you post some photo's of the back for me while you are at it? I would really appreciate that, thanks!

If it won't go up or down, I'd think maybe the threads in the plastic piece. If it will go up, but not down til you push it, probably not gripping the post ends. My Front cushion does the same thing, motor whirs..no movement. Still haven't found that culprit yet.
Here is one after I gave the headrest a "sharp pull" to remove it, then slid it back in until it had not quite engaged the clips. You can see the chrome post from the headrest peeking thru the black plastic:
It bottoms into these white plastic anchors, which may be the root of your problem if you've pushed it down and locked it in and it still won't move:
Or the threads could be stripped:
THere were 6 screws fixing my squab cover on -Holes for 4 can be seen in the last pic - they held the tray-table on as well. 2 down low, then beware the clips low on each side - didn't know about them and seems I've broken one and perhaps lost the other: (don't seem to have a picture of them but will snap you one later this morning.
