Default Replacing a module

When one is replacing a module in their precious is it advantages to unhook the battery to avoid voltage spikes. Especially if that module spent 29 days in USPS limbo from Maryland to Massachusetts! I could have walked it quicker!

Yes, it is always prudent to disconnect the battery before disconnecting an old module and connecting a new one. Many modules are connected directly to battery power even when the ignition is off.

Cheers,

Don

Thank you. I have done my own work for over 50 years. I have owned many cars. I've had a moded Bug Eye for over forty, but I've never had anything as complex as this jaguar x300. A completely new learning curve. I swear that when I get everything working and the electrical system figured out I will have earned myself a degree in automotive electrical engineering. Unfortunately I no longer have a shop to work in. I will just have to muddle thru. Thanks again.

They get even more complicated going forwards. A laptop is more use than a wrench in many instances.
