Default Revitilizing rear suspension

I will replace all the bushings since I have to pull the rear subframe to resolve a differential problem. Does anyone have a list of bushings or know of a kit I can purchase with all the correct bushings? While I have it out, I will also replace all the bearings and seals. I think I can look at a diagram to figure out what I need there. Either way, I see a lot of work in front of me. Thanks to @Don B and Parker, I think I know what I am in for with all the pictures that Don B. is providing me. I also found a really good set of videos, 7 part series, that shows step by step to take everything apart.

I haven't done a bushing refresh but the info i have garnered :

There are 3 hardness ratings on bushings and the touring sedan has the softest

Jaguar XJ6, XJ6R - X300 - X306 (1994-1997) Replacement Suspension Bushings (powerflexusa.com)

You will use the thinner 22 mm front suspension roll bar bushings ( and rear bar 17 mm ? ) for the softer suspension

You've already gone through removing the long fulcrum bolts and to not mushroom the tread ends to remove

Silicon or lithium grease on poly bushings lubrication on assembly less squeaks

And the golden source of info / terminology

Hi Phil,

You'll want to replace the rear subframe bushes CCC6875, part 14 in this diagram:

You'll also want to replace every other bushing you can actually find a replacement for, including the differential strut (dogbone) bushings (I think Jaguar never offered the bushings separately), and the pendulum and wishbone tie busings,. The part numbers are given at parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com. Hopefully they are still available.

It's also a good time to replace the wheel bearings and seals, hub fulcrum bearings, and to grease the axle U-joints.

It's also a great time to replace the rear shock absorber bushings, including the large "donut" isolators (Part 5 below), the cylindrical foam rubber bushes (Parts 13 & 14), and the lower spherical joints (Part 17). I've found that it is usually cheaper to just purchase new Bilstein shocks because they come with the cylindrical bushes and lower spherical joints (which have become ridiculously expensive), and you only need to purchase the donut isolator bushings separately.

Cheers,

Don

So here is what I think I need for the bearings and seals
2 jlm1708
2 68FY76J REAR INNER WHEEL BEARINGS SET
4 WHEEL SEAL NATIONAL 710637
4 WHEEL SEAL BACK/ARNELY 052-3407
Please let me know if I am missing anything or if I am duplicating things. I would like to get this right so others that are looking at doing the work have a list to go buy

Hi Phil,

I don't have time to look up the part numbers, but on the rear hub parts diagram for each side you need parts 2, 3, 9, 10 and 15. I believe all the other parts can be reused - pay very careful attention to the order in which they are assembled, especially the small "adjustable spacer" rings, Part 4 in the diagram. These set the spacing between the bearings and consequently the hub end play. Some owners have accidentally lost them, and they have been quite sorry.

Cheers,

Don

There was a change on the wheel bearing area and parts between the X300 Vs. X308

This may only be the front , the rear X308 wheel hub casting is definitely different as the casting itself and bearing seat machining

There was a change in part #s ( within the X308 ) with a TSB for the X308

Just quick info to not have wrong parts

To know to part is correct after receiving and installing Motorcarman ( Bob ) would know better about with his experience and his value

The X308 bearings had failure rates ( dirt seal not good ) hence the X308 TSB

In practice the bearings are never flushed and repacked with grease but you can do that as a no parts needed

On aircraft once a year it was legally required ( by a other than owner person FAA licensed in the technical area person to make a legal entry with their signature and FAA license # ) to repack the original bearings regardless of the bearing's usage in that year , otherwise the aircraft don't fly

Knew people that lost their license / jail time , not me
