Rims for X300
hi everyone, I am looking to buy me some aftermarket rims for my 96 X300. What is a good size to go?? I dont wanna go huge, the stock is 16". I would like something like 18 or 19" rims. I also do not want to ruin the ride quality... What is a good size to go with anyone know????

Stay with a 17 or 18 rim, it's not the size of the rim (17 or 18) it's the tire / rim combanation. Go on line and research wheel rim and tire combanations Type in: RIM & TIRE COMBANATIONS in google. If you put a 25 height tire on an 18 in rim the wheel well will look empty or the other hand if you put a 60 height tire or a 18 rim you won't be able to drive the car. Standard tire height for an X300 is 16 / 225 / 60 that combanation fills the wheel well just right. As an experiment go to wheel-rim & tire dealer and ask them to put a used 16/225/40 tire on your standard rim and see what it looks like. When you see it you'll get the message about rim and tire combos.
HERE IS A PICTURE OF MY JAG WITH 18/225/50's; NOTICE THE WHEEL WELL IS FILLED. (click on the attachment)

hey cooke, I was on the sears website looking at custom rims, and I noticed that they do have 19's that would fit my jag. The bolt pattern says 5-475 for all XJ Models from 1995-2003. In 2004 the bolt pattern changes to 5-108. So would this mean I could still fit any rims that would fit a 95-03 XJ series? because the bolt pattern is all the same....

Well, with regards to practicality, both of those cars are the X308 which have a different designed front end which makes them considerably less tramlining when brought up to speed.
On a side note, I think that man may have some brain damage. When appallingly large rims are put on a car, it becomes only about the rims, and not the car. It works much better on some other cars having 21 inch rims because they fit flawlessly with the car (Rolls Royce Phantom). Putting 24 inches of rim on a Jaguar, especially an Xj (X300, X308 variety) just looks bad.

Don't do it
Anything over 18 or 19 would make the car look like an urban gang banger bucket. You want a car where when you go out with your family or your girl (wife) they don't laugh and point. Look at some of the pictures on this site and tell me what looks good to you. There are no classey XJ6's (pictures) on this site with a set of low rider rims.
