Default Rotunda VCM - Wanted

I have successfully installed on a laptop with Windows XP, JLR IDS/SDD v131.03.
My 1996 XJR requires 02 sensor orientation which can be performed by IDS. Entry of VIN number refers me to Legacy IDS, which opens & is all good.
My problem is obtaining a genuine VCM to allow communication with the car.
Chinese VCM's are plentiful, however do not seem to work satisfactorily. Despite showing as connected to IDS, they fail to actually communicate with the car.
Perhaps someone out there has a genuine VCM or could assist with locating one.
I believe they are only of use to us owners with the older (X300/X308) models.

A few years ago, I bought a set of VCM kit from forum member Cameron Knight. The VCM works well on the X300 and X308 series but its working speed is somewhat slow. I have seen a local Jaguar specialist using the Autologic Blue Box quite effectively, so now that prices of used Autologic Blue Boxes are coming down (they are being replaced by more modern Autologic products), I am inclined to upgrade to Autologic and, if so, I would invite offer for my VCM.

But beware of cheap China clones. eBay seller sometimes sell clones which are advertised as original ones.

Very much aware of the Chinese clones, have one in my possession at present, take a look at the spelling on the reverse sticker (photo attached)
All these new ones being sold outside E Bay appear to be clones, several legitimate looking sites on the internet are selling them.
Qvhk - are able to post some close up photos of the front & rear of your VCM. I assume it is a genuine one.
Also, when you say it is a bit slow, could you clarify & have you has it operating & communicating with the car with IDS.

I attached a picture of my original VCM It's from a Ford shop and therefore 100% original. I see differences in the print of the serial number and scancode.
As far as I know, have the Mazda ones an M printed after the model no. The Jaguar ones a J instead. The serial in this picture was modified by me.

I don't have any speed issues noticed so far. Using the original Panasonic CF-18 running Windows XP. Could you explain what is meant with slow?
I recently did a measurement drive over about 3h non-stop. The whole system was completely stable without any fault.

The VCM kit is now inside the boot of my X350 that is temporarily stored away so I can't take pictures to show you the back of the VCM. However, I have the older pictures on my email archive back in May 2017 when the lot arrived from Australia; see pictures below. IDS (V118.5) and SDD (V148.7) have been loaded onto a ThinkPad X220 Tablet running on Window 7 Professional (these two dated Jaguar software systems are incompatible with later Window versions), with factory EPC installed as well. It is an ideal tool for diagnostics on the X300, including calibrating the idle speed with the new ECU (I had a few hiccups with the ECU due to water leak). I am completely lost when operating in the SDD environment. You can tell from the system names that they are based on almost opposite philosophy IDS stands for Integrated Diagnostic System; SDD Symptoms Driven Diagnostic. ISD is holistic; SDD works with symptoms upward, so to someone like me who has no engineering background or computer savvy it can be a very slow process trying to navigate in and out or across various diagnostic modules and functions. So when I was stuck somewhere, I usually quit the system and started all over again. I have better experience with the Autologic Blue Book when I saw a mechanic reading codes, clearing codes and re-reading codes much quicker so that is simply my personal view. Anyway, I am not done with the VCM yet although my XJR has been behaving well lately and has become my daily driver recently - so once I have acquired the Autologic tool and become familiar with it I would be happy to let go the VCM kit.

The full kit out of the box when received; the system runs on Window 7 Professional, with touch screen function.

Close up of the VCM (heard that the Ford version has a different label).

This is the IDS; note the version number on top left corner

This is the SDD interface

Here is the advice I received from the original seller which I think I can share with folks here: "Any software you see on eBay, JLR SDD or IDS, is not genuine. The earlier versions of SDD could be activated with just a username & password (which was not "secret") however since SDD V131.3, the activation of the software changed. .........In many cases the "cracked" software from eBay or other online shops is not reliable, and misses some functionality. Cheap VCM's on eBay are not genuine. When the VCM was still available to buy new, it was $2600 USD with the cables. So if you see one for $100-$200, you know it is simply not the real thing......."
