Mike,

Sachs is a very high-quality OEM now owned by ZF, the conglomerate that for decades has made Jaguar transmissions, steering racks, etc. Sachs has been a Jaguar OEM for years (e.g. the bonnet and boot lift support struts on our '04 XJR were made by Sachs).

ZF also owns Boge, another Jaguar damper/shock absorber OEM. I'm currently running Sachs shocks on the rear of our XJ40 and they behave just like the OE Boges, which is to say, really well.

You may be able to find the part number you need in this catalog:

https://mediaservices.zf.com/Redirec...2FeKwBz1cv4%3D

If not, use google to find other Sachs catalogs online. They have extensive part-finding resources available.

Cheers,

Don

As I say initially the wrong part was recommended but by using various catalogues I got an excellent price on the correct Sachs shocks so that will be some fun when I pick them up.

Had fun helping a friend with his E-Type Jaguar yesterday. The brake system has a vacuum flask tucked in near the engine and this had been taken out of the circuit years ago so his brakes were poor and legs strong. He decided that he would get it working and all was until he had minor surgery on his face and couldn't get under the car any more so muggins said he'd help. Horrible job as you couldn't see anything and clearly the struts had been bent so if one bolt lined up the other didn't. Two hours later we did it. Nice car but I wouldn't want one.
