Seat Memory Modules

Like most older Jags, my driver's power seat has lost it's ability to retain seat adjustments (mirrors and steering wheel still work, as does the headrest adjustment). I'm told that back in '97, Jaguar used a battery, soldered to the circuit board, to hold the memory information. But the fact that the headrest adjustment is retained leads me to believe this is not a bad battery--it must be something else. The question, of course, is what else? Does anyone have any idea?
I know a possible fix is to replace the memory module, but I'm wondering if there is an alternative?
TIA for any offered help.

Check the forums on jag-lovers.org. There is detailed info on how to fix. The same issue has happened to my '95 XJ6 VDP. The mirrors and steering wheel move for memory, but the seat does not. From what I've read, there are potentiometers that measure where the seat/steering wheel/mirrors are. They're like little plastic gears and are very brittle. You'll end up removing the driver's seat and taking it apart to fix. I need to do that to mine, but am just too lazy.

Hi Jobooth,
I've heard that, but I've searched on Jag-lovers, trying to find this and several other topics, but I never seem to be able to find what I need. Do you happen to know the link? Or something specific to search for? The title phrase here shows lots of conversation, but no instructions on what to do...
Thanks!
