Our Jags have to be the best cars you can get for under $3000. I paid $2500 for my 1995 and have had it almost two years trouble free. I guess its the past Reputation for problems make the bottom drop out.
usedjaggy check out Ebay, you will find sparkenzap is right on the money, ones that have issues are going under $2500 they can just get out of range if you can not work on them yourself and the x300 pays the price for past models.

I apologize for kicking you when you were down, but the "worth" of the car in the context I used it is what you can get for it in a short term sale. If someone liked Pentas, and knew how good Proxes were, AND was going to work on it himself, he MIGHT buy a non starting car with good tires. The fact is the Proxes are sorta wasted on an X300. Please brag back when you show me wrong and get your asking price. Heck, if you weren't so far away, I would offer to buy it, put the proxes on one of my XJRs, fix the car and drive it. But I would offer $ 2999.

Hi usedjaggy I've just checked all your posts and it would seem that you have only really had one problem relating to running and idle speed.
If you can't sort the problem yourself, why not consider taking it to a garage or even a dealership, rather than just giving up on it now.
You obviously like the car, apart from the fact that it doesn't run right, and it would most likely pay you to get it running correctly before even considering selling it on.
Sadly, as has been mentioned these older Jags sell for silly money, and even with every option on the planet, if they are not running right people will only be buying as a project, or parts car and offer you peanuts.
It's a shame that you have become disillusioned because when they are running right, they really are great cars.
Just my two penn'orth.
I hope it works out for you.

I don't believe what I'm reading ! The X300s were one of the best cars Jaguar ever made, far better than the car that came after, (the X308). Pity was that Jaguar built them for such a short time; they would have actually have made some profits if they had made it for a bit longer, and held off with the V8 until it worked right.
Clearly any X300 is at least 12 years old, probably more, and little faults can build up and up, until you want to tear the thing apart - Gurrrh !! But hold on in there, Usedjaggy.
Don't forget to check the bumpers are not falling off, this is one of the common "little faults", but cheap to rectify.

Good that you're hanging in there usedjaggy.
The fact of the matter is, a certain amount of expense and frustration is just part of the package when you own high-end luxury cars...of any brand. And it doesn't get easier as the car age.
I've been driving Jags for many years. Whenever I get frustrated I remind myself that, for a drive-it-and-forget-it ownership experience, I coulda and shoulda signed up for an old Honda or a '67 Chevy. That always puts things back into perspective for me :-).
It's pretty much like wives and girlfriends. You can have a pleasant, quiet existance with the girl next door or you can marry a super model and really live the life....knowing fully well that it won't always be easy.
Cheers

I don't know if you figured out by now that there is a feature built in to the ECU that stops injector pulses if the car is cranked at WOT. SO, you can clear a flood just like an old carb car and crank at WOT for 30 seconds or so. If it does not fire, wait a few minutes to spare the starter, then do it again.
