The door latch is an electro-mechanical device.
Two problems regularly reported are:
1. the lock button 'binds' in the lock button surround (see item 3) of the door top roll preventing the linkage from rising to open the door.
2. failed micrswitches in the door latch either don't operate or don't move the operating links fully.
The problem in opening the door by sliding a 'slim jim' down between the door glass and the door rubber to lift the release link is there a shield (see item 2) around the front of the latch to prevent this:
It is supposedly possible to work round this ......
Just a thought. How is the tailgate released in the hearse - is there an outside button?

Last ditch effort. bust the door glass. While you have the door card off to replace the glass, clean, lube and adjust the works.
Or, a local "real" locksmith may have a better answer.
And, do I conclude that entry from the rear door is not a way in???
But, that might find a privacy glass. But, if so, a way to get it down and reach that button!!!
And, one other. Honest folks and others not so honest use a "Slim Jim". S section of flat steel with a notch on the end. Slips in past the gasket and poked around til it gets a bite on a lock rod and releases it.
Amateurs of both ilk have used a bent clothes hanger wire in the manner of a slim JIM.

Try removing your door card (pretty simple) and then lubricate the door lock mechanism thoroughly in all three places (outside door cylinder, door jam mechanism, and inside the door assembly) while working the key at the same time. Chances are it just is a bit stiff from lack of use. Then go thru the remote Fob programming procedure. There's a good chance it will be the same as a standard X300 setup, just make sure you have good strong batteries in your remote. Even though the remote lights flash they may still be weak.

State of play
Hi guys
Well I finally managed to get into it and then the battery was flat.
It turns out that the battery was knackered.
So £120 later and a lot of crawling around (as it's in the boot) I got it going, shut the door and got locked out again.......
Basically simply shutting the drivers door seem to lock the car and as the engine was running I simply could not get in without breaking the back window
Anyway, after then the car starts ok a couple of days after standing.
So at least I am confident there isn't a drain on the battery
So now i am stuck with the following two issues
I need a back screen and a door lock repairing.
The weather is so crap currently in the uk, it's freezing.
So really I could do with a decent local garage that could repair or fix it.
I am in the Milton Keynes area, does anyone know of a decent garage that could do this doorlock locallly ?

wow,I never knew those existed.
I want one,if you see another let me know,I have a friend outside of Liverpool that can take it from there.
I was already looking at chopping one up here to make something similar but that looks ready to go.
