Default Someone please help, having Big problem with my X300

hello maybe somone can help me..... I have a 96 X300 and yesterday I changed out the dome and maps lights in the top panel, everything worked fine. The next day i noticed that none of the lights were on. I went to check the fuse and it was blown, so I went to replace it it kept blowing on me.The lights are just standard bright white lights 5w. So now every fuse I try is blowing... it hold a 10amp fuse, I tried every single fuse and it blew, only the 30amp didnt blow but it overheats. So now I go to turn on the car and the airbag light came on.... Can somone help me, does anyone know anything??? I would appricate it thanks.

you've probably got some ground related to those lights touching somewhere, perhaps a severed wire or prong that's touching the wrong place causing that fuse issue. as for the airbag light, I don't have a clue. the way I used to drive, it could've been anything. but voltage does funny things on these cars, so I wouldn't be suprised if the two are related.

I agree with panchostatus, I would imagine it is not grounding right somewhere. My buddy had a major electrical meltdown with his X300 and it ended up being because he wasn't grounding right, it was so bad he never got his key to start his jag again. The dealer nor his mechanic could find the problem. So he had to have a button by the hood release lever installed to actuate the starter to start the car. It's really is amazing what the extra volts will do to the electrics. I would have the grounding cables checked out and go from there.

an improper ground is the most likely explanation for the overheating fuse, and if that circuit is messing up, it is likely to mess with other circuits as well. these cars are wired to the teeth so who knows what's connected to what.
