Springs Front

Paul,
Your 1995 XJ6 (X300) and 2000 XJ8 (X308) are indeed very similar cars in many respects, but also are quite different in many others as they are a different platform.
And contrary to your post above, they do not have the same engine and as such I suspect do not have the same weight over the front suspension, not to mention that there are suspension differences.
Depending on the trim level of your XJ8, it may have electronically adjustable front shocks for example, and the XJ6 never had those.
But here are some links that show the different spring parts for the two models:

From the illustrations alone, there clearly are some changes to the suspension components associated with the front springs such as the spring pans.
Now, could some version of the X308 spring be made to work on an X300? I have no idea, but it looks like some investigation would be required. Maybe someone has tried and will chime in.

Al Thanks so much for your quick replay. Very helpful info. Can you send me or tell me where I can get info for the front springs for a 1998. I can buy a set much better price and from a better climate no rust. The picture looks good but need the length to see if they can work I have a small amount to work with but still need springs. Thanks again
Paul
