Stiffer shocks?

Stiffer shocks?
I have a 96vdp and need to replace the rear shocks, they are getting noisy! I will be using Bilsteins and was wondering if the stiffer B6 shocks for the XJR would be a good idea. I know that the vdp is sprung softer but stiffening up the ride a little for me at least, I don't think would be a bad idea. Any thoughts on this? I really don't want to go through the work and expensive if this is a bad idea and I should just go with the softer shocks and call it done.

I just put Bilstein regulars on my VDP. Coming from BMW I am used to stiffer.
I really wish they would up the rebound. I think the compression damping is fine...it is the lack of rebound that gives it that float feel.
I can't imagine the XJR are drastically stiffer...knowing what I know now I would go XJR on my next set.
A lot of the "Soft" is in the big sidewall. I put some very stiff sticky low profile tires on XJR rims and it made the car ride uncomfortable ...would generate BIG grip for a boat!!!

Rick in RVA, thanks for the reply. I have aftermarket 17" Coventry wheels with 235-50-17 performance tires. The car handles ok for a big vehicle but a little less body lean would be nice. My car is the long wheelbase model so it is never going to handle like a sports car and I accept that but we always like to tinker, don't we?
I have been looking for a 2002-2003 XJR for something a little sportier and faster.

I have a set of front and rear XJR sways waiting to go on and I got the mono strut installed already. THAT mono strut made a nice difference.

I just installed a new set of bilsteins on the rear of my x300,and the big tower bushing as well, the first shock, was really a learning experience, for the second one,i compressed the heck out of the spring, and also the shock past the second coil.all is well, and it no longer squeaks going over speed bumps, the ride is really good.
